25 Abril

BRADI wrote this in Spanish so I tried to translate into English with Googles help.  I put the Spanish version below:

I wanted to make a letter in Spanish today from Peru. 😊 This week we found many new investigators.  I'm excited to see what happens with them. We found a brother named Octavio, and his  daughter Ariana. We went to his house 3 times looking for a less active, and they were still telling us that she did not live there. We thought it was his son who is a good Catholic, who did not want to come back, but then I realized that the less active was living alongside haha ... But it gave us a good opportunity to talk to this brother. Then we contacted, and he let us in. he and his daughter accepted the invitation to pray about Joseph Smith, and said, "Maybe this really is the true church. Let me know." I enjoyed the lesson very much. We also found two sisters, Celia and Leny, who accepted baptismal date of May 28. I like to see that God is sending us people chosen here in Talara.
We continue teaching the Bruno family, and we are planning an activity to earn money so that they can divorce and remarry. They have a lot of faith, and teach after fasting, they asked when they can fast. The truth is that this family makes me so happy, I know, although it will take some time, they will be baptized and be leaders in the church. Talara exactly what you need.
there are always miracles to see in the mission, and I know that when we have the Spirit, we are guided both in our actions and in our words. Yesterday in sacrament meeting, a brother talked about the potential we have. Each person has the potential to become perfect like Christ. When we see people as children of God, he gives me more desire to talk to everyone and help them to achieve this potential. I am so grateful for the perfect plan that God has given us. We must put life in His hands so that He can change us. I love this gospel, I know that is true.
I thought I would write in Spanish because I no longer think in English. Hehe.
With love,

Sister Richan

Jeje.

Con amor,
Hermana Ríchan <3

18 Abril

Transfers TODAY! But no, I stayed with Hermana Valdez, I'll have 6 months here in Talara. :) Which I'm super happy about, I love it here!

We found out that Ana and Victor Bruno are not married, so now we are working on that. We were lead to believe that they were married, so it was kind of a shock when she told us they weren´t. But im seeing it as a blessing because if we would have known in the first lesson, we might not have seen them as a golden family. But they ARE a golden family, that wants to get baptized, and Hna Ana has told us that it is important to her to get married, so she can go to the temple as a family. They have been in Lima this past week, but now that they are back we are gonna do all we can to help them.

A few weeks ago, we started teaching an investigator that the elders were teaching, Keisa. She is 20 years old, and her brother and sister are members. And on Saturday she got baptized! So that was an awesome experience. She had a history beforehand with not wanting anything to do with the church, and seeing the changes that her brother made in his life made her want to investigate. She is awesome, always bringing friends to church, and sharing the gospel with others.

The Fam. Barrientos is still living in Sullana until they find out what is wrong with Hna Maritza. She has been sick lately, but we call her often, and visit her daughter. Praying that she can recover quickly! Her testimony is so strong, and I know with time she will be able to be baptized with her family.

Things are good here in Talara! We are now working with members a lot more the strengthen the branches here. I love hearing the testimonies of all the members, and how they were introduced to the church. The church is the same everywhere in the world, and I am so grateful to have met many people with the same beliefs, and knowing that the gospel is being preached everywhere. I love this work ! I hope you are taking the time to remember the Savior daily, soon he will come.  Les amo <3

4 Abril

The week of general conference is always a good week! Such an awesome experience to hear the words of the prophet out here in Peru, in Spanish, and it is all the same. I was able to watch the Sunday morning session in the stake center of Talara with all the members, and I can't even explain how cool the reaction was to the new temple in Lima. Everyone gasped, and afterwards everyone was so excited. It made me realized how BLESSED we are to have so many temples in Utah. And i dont think we realize how important it is that we go as often as possible, and take advantage of that blessing we have. There are so many people here that want to go to the temple and cant afford it, or people that go one time in their life and do all they can to get there. Like Kent F. Richards said, we need the temple more than anything else. We are so blessed to have the knowledge of these priesthood ordinances that will allow us to return to our Heavenly Father. I cant wait til i can go to the temple again, but its an awesome experience teaching and helping these people find their way to the temple too.

One of my favorite talks was by Robert D. Hales. I loved how he talked about the Holy Ghost, and how He respects our agency. I had been thinking about that before the conference, if we have the Holy Ghost with us always, why do we still make so many mistakes, and why is it still hard to resist temptation sometimes? But it is true, the Holy Ghost ALWAYS warns us. We know beforehand if he are able to do something wrong because we have this warning from the Holy Ghost. The difference is we need to recognize that it is the Spirit warning us, and then use our agency wisely by following the impressions of the Holy Ghost. Reminds me of Mosiah 16:12. God is not going to let us make a mistake without warning us first.

The Family Bruno still amazes me. We went to teach them with our branch president this week, and they have such a good understanding of everything.

The Family Barrientos has been having health issues lately, but still have desires to get baptized. Hna maritza went to live with her sister for a little bit so she could live close to the doctor, we are praying that she will be okay. But it was a miracle that Hno Thomas and their daughter Maria were able to go to conference. After not going to church for a couple weeks.

This week we have been working with members and helping them set goals to go to the temple! We have been seeing changes in the lives of some of these people, it really is amazing the miracle and blessing that the temple is, and these people are realizing that and are willing to change.

Hope you have the best spring break! St george will be cool and all, but today i went to a famous beach with a million sea turtles. But enjoy the red rocks. ;)) Love you all!
